According to SalineRiverChronicle.com, after dealing with regular business including financial and project reports, the Southeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority Board spent a large portion of their meeting listening to and discussing ideas concerning the construction of a regional jail that would hold county and state prisoners. The concept was brought up by Drew County Judge Robert Akin and Bradley County Judge Keith Neely.
According to the Arkansas State Police preliminary report, there was a fatality wreck in Eudora, at 11:37 Saturday morning, where an adult and two children lost their lives.

According to the McGehee Police department, there was an incident at McGehee High School at approximately 9:45a.m., this morning. Police responded to call advising a fight in the boy’s bathroom with injuries requiring policeman and EMT. Read the rest of this entry »
Shortly after 10 AM, Friday morning, local police were called to McGehee High School, to the report of a stabbing, involving multiple students.

Construction of the new Jackson Street bridge has resumed.
Construction had hit a stopping point, until Centerpoint Energy completed a gas line project that was involved in their bridge construction. With that done, construction can now continue.

The Arkansas Highway & Transportation Dept. held a public meeting, last week at Drew Centraal, which was attended by dozens of local residents.
Design engineer David Baker gave MLive a “virtual tour” of the proposed bypass, using the map drawings on display.
The video shows all road intersections, bridge crossings, and an overpass, which will evantually be added at Old Warren Road.
Kirby Ramos is a 55 year old artist from the Osage Nation. He’ll be at Scissortail’s Trading Post on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, from noon til 5 pm.
He’ll have several unique handcarved items available, signing autographs, and taking pictures. His work is well know throughout Indian Country.
Kirby’s work is also featured at the National Museum of the American Indian-Smithsonian Institute in NY & DC.

At approximately 10:30, Saturday night, Arkansas State Police, Drew County Sheriffs Deputies, and Monticello Police responded to a rollover wreck on Barkada Road, between Tanglewood and Tracy Drives.

Around 7:15 AM, Friday morning, reports indicate 4–6 passengers/driver were injured in a single vehicle accident on Highway 277, in Drew County.
A 37 year old Drew County woman was arrested, Monday, on the charge of “Concealing Birth” which is a class “D” Felony.


At 8 PM, Wednesday evening, the driver of a mini-van was transported to Drew Memorial Hospital by SEEMS, following a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 425 & 278.

Victoria Pedraza leaving Courthouse after her 20 year sentence for Permitting Abuse of a Minor, which led to the death of her Daughter.
She has appealed, arguing that the circuit court judge erred by (1) requiring her to register as a sex offender, (2) engaging in inappropriate conduct during her sentencing trial, and (3) not disqualifying himself from presiding over her sentencing trial (which was held with a jury).
