A 40 year old McGehee man, believed to be on his way to a Drew County jury trial, Wednesday, for the alleged rape of a 7-year-old Monticello girl was found with an apparent self-inflicted 22 caliber gunshot wound to the forehead.
After opening arguments, the defense began calling their witnesses.

Shortly after 11 AM, Tuesday morning, a Drew County home was destroyed by fire.
A 30 year old Monticello man was arrested around 9 pm, Sunday, following shots being fired, as Monticello Police were handcuffing his sister, after a domestic disturbance.

Around 2 AM, Tuesday morning, the driver of this big rig was southbound on Cherry Street, attempting to turn west onto Jackson Street, apparently following his GPS, when he ran into trouble (and a ditch.)
Around 5:15, Sunday morning a Drew County Sheriffs Deputy responded to a call from a traveler, reporting a big rig, parked, blocking 2 lanes on HWY 278 W., past Wilmar.

The driver and passenger of this Ford pick-up narrowly escaped injury, Wednesday afternoon around 4 PM, when the truck, loaded with firewood, left the roadway 3 miles east of Monticello, crossed a ditch, and ran into a wooded area.
Shortly after 4 PM, Thursday, a car fire was reported on Sam Carter Road, near Wilmar.
