5 Traffic Deaths in Drew County, since September 5

2 Warren men died at the scene of a rollover crash on Highway 278 E., on Monday, September 5, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and they were ejected.
On Friday, September 9, a local lady died from injuries she sustained, when she turned in front of an 18 wheeler, on 425 N. in Monticello.
Monday, September 19, a Drew County man was killed on 425 S., near the race track, when he crossed the center line, striking an oncoming vehicle.
Monday night, a 32 -year-old pedestrian was struck by a car and finally injured, on 425, south of UAM.

In August, MLive broke the story of $22,500 in missing money, linking Mayor Zack Tucker to an alleged false invoice from the Economic Development Fund of Monticello, billed to the city’s Advertising & Promotion Commission, for false charges.
Late last month, a city check for $6,500 was found, paid to Variety Attractions for country star John Michael Montgomery, stating that it was a $6500 loan to the festival, that would be reimbursed when a local industry reimbursed the check. When that industry paid the $5000 that they had actually pledged, it was not used as reimbursement, but went directly to the festival account. Read the rest of this entry »
