UAM Holds Fall Commencement Exercises

The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) held its fall commencement exercises on Friday, December 12, in the Steelman Field House. Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, recognized graduates completing academic credentials ranging from master’s degrees to technical certificates during the ceremony.
Dr. Doss commended the graduates and their families and friends, stating, “Today, we honor not only what you have achieved, but all you are yet to become. Congratulations, graduates. May your path be filled with success, purpose and the joy of making a difference.”

City Holiday Trash Schedule & Free Public Dumpster Information

The City of Monticello will be closed for Christmas December 24, 25th, and 26th.
Trash for Thursday the 25th will be picked up on Monday the 22nd.
Trash for Friday 26th will be picked up on Tuesday the 23rd.
As the City has done for the last several years, large dumpsters for household/ Christmas related household trash (wrapping paper, boxes, etc) will be placed at the same two locations for FREE use by citizens of Monticello. Those locations are at City Park and the old City Warehouse located on McCloy Street, just East of the intersection of McCloy and Conley.
No furniture, wood, lumber, appliances, etc. should be placed in these dumpsters. They are for our citizens to use for excess holiday trash. Violators abusing this service with the above listed large and unauthorized items take dumpster space away from citizens needing it for holiday trash. The City will refer violators for prosecution for illegal dumping.
