New Year’s Eve, Monticello fire department and Monticello police department responded to the call of a man on fire, on the 1000 area of Shelton Street.
Sources from the scene report that a man was throwing accelerants onto a burn barrel fire, when they ignited and caught his clothes on fire.
SEEMS responded and transported the burn victim to Baptist Drew. It is not believed that his injuries were life-threatening.
Around 4:30 pm, New Year’s Day, the driver of this Acura lost control of their vehicle while traveling on Oakland Street, near Gabbert.
The impact from the car caused the power pole to snap, wrapping the car with electric wires.
After officers from MPD arrived, the driver fled the scene on foot, and was quickly apprehended, and faces multiple charges pertaining to the wreck.
