Drew Central High Schools FBLA was honored Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the District III Fall Leadership Conference in Pine Bluff for outstanding service to the Monticello area food pantry, Salvation Army Ringing of the Bell, Angel Tree Project, and Adopt a Family Christmas offering. Also, there was a special recognition for their Bucket Challenge for Healthy Babies project for March of Dimes.

Saturday around 10:30 am near the Jackson & Shelton Street intersection, there was a thanks playpen filled with women’s clothes, shoes and my grandson’s baby quilt.
It was set outside for a relative to pick up, but it seems someone thought it was discarded. Whoever picked it up, is asked to return it, especially the blanket, because of its sentimental value.

Drew Central fourth graders invited their grandparents to join them for lunch in honor of National Grandparents’ Day. Students were treated to a Coretta Scott King Honor book read aloud titled When I Am Old with You authored by Angela Johnson. The bond between grandparent and grandchild transcends time, and sometimes transcends an adult’s sense of logic, reaching a deeper level of truth.
4 takeaways helped pace the University of Arkansas at Monticello on the road Saturday, Oct. 6, winning at Arkansas Tech University, 34-16. The win halted a three-game skid for the Boll Weevils as they improved to 2-4 on the season, all in the Great American Conference. Read the rest of this entry »
