UAM Librarian Selected for National Program

UAMLaShondaaCampbell LaShonda Campbell, the collection development librarian for the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at UAM, has been named to the 2025 class of Emerging Leaders by the American Library Association. She is one of only 46 librarians nationwide and one of only two librarians from Arkansas. This six-month program is designed for new library staff and information workers to engage with experts and peers across the country, working on collaborative projects and professional committees in the field of librarianship. Letter To The Editor From Monticello 2nd Chance Fur Dogs

To the Editor:

The issues surrounding animal welfare can be complex and it is understandable that there can occasionally be misunderstandings or discrepancies in the information that is communicated, at no fault to anyone. While we fully appreciate the hard work and dedication of our city and county’s leaders, we would just like to take this opportunity to address some of the misinformation that has been circulating about Monticello 2nd Chance Fur Dogs over the last couple of months and, especially, since the last city council meeting.

First and foremost, 2nd Chance has worked tirelessly over the last 10 years to ensure that every dog in need is provided the upmost care. We truly believe that our efforts have not only saved countless animal lives, but also contributed positively to the health and happiness of the community as a whole. We strongly feel that we all share the same goal for the place we call home – a safe, thriving city, where every living being is treated with compassion and respect.

City of Monticello Taking Applications For Advertising & Promotion Administrative Assistant

Accepting Applications

The City of Monticello is currently taking applications for a Full time or Part-Time Advertising & Promotion Administrative Assistant. This individual will be the sole contact between the public, City Hall and the Advertising & Promotion Commission. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Must have the ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office software as well as learn other computer-based software as needed. Must have the ability to handle high call volumes in a professional manner and multi-task. Experience in general marketing strategies and web maintenance/design. Applicant must have the desire to learn within a municipal environment and be able to interact with the public in a professional manner. Preferred level of education is a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Deadline to apply February 28, 2025.
