Amber’s Mad Southern Style, located on HWY 425 North, in the former Seasons location, is now open, specializing in boutique type clothing, including sizes extra small and extra-large, along with accessories specialized to each outfit you select.
Amber’s staff, Shelby Wall, Amber Evans, and Stevi Bolin, are shown here, on the day of their Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting and grand opening, last week.
Amber’s is open Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 6pm.

Piggly Wiggly, on South. Main St. in Monticello, closed Sunday morning for a major store renovation, name change, and marketing change.
The store is reopen today as Food Giant – Cash Saver, with the new sales technique.
Each item in the store will be identified with the store’s actual cost for that item. When customers check out, 10% of the grocery total will then be added. This total is what the customer will pay, providing YOU with lower prices.

Drew County Deputies and Monticello Fire Dept. firefighters were called to this rubbish fire, Monday afternoon, when the helpful workers forgot about the burn ban, and the fire got larger than expected.
The burn ban that is in effect for Drew County HAS NOT been cancelled, due to Friday night’s rain.
Please do not burn any items, until it is cancelled by the county judge and Forestry Commission.

Sunday afternoon, KARK/KLRT’s Jocelyn Tovar inerviewed Mike Fritts, who was trapped inside of Thursday’s wildfire.
As the report states, Mike will get to meet Ms. Gail and other emergency staff members, which he credits with saving his life, today, in a meeting set up by MLive.

Around 11 am, Friday morning, the new driver of this AT&T truck lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway in Dead Man’s Curve, 2 miles east of Monticello on HWY 278 East.
Neither the driver, nor his trainer, was injured.
Drew County Sheriff’s deputies worked the crash scene. Reliable Towing was called to remove the vehicle.
Thursday’s wreck in the same curve wasn’t as easy to remove.
