The Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting ceremony, Monday morning, for Los Arcos Mexican Grill.
Jorge Rosas and his staff have a beautiful restaurant, located next to Domino’s Pizza on Highway 425 South.
The food, the fixtures and the atmosphere are all impressive.
Recently, Monticello Coffee Company was the local stopping spot for a TV celebrity, Willie Robertson from Duck Commander and the Duck Dynasty TV series.
Robertson lives in Monroe and was passing through on business.
While there, he met Annette Taylor and the staff, and took time for a few friendly photos.
Several city and county candidates for local offices took part in the Democratic Party of Drew County’s “breakfast on the Square”, Saturday morning.
The event, although sponsored by the Democratic party, welcomed all candidates, as well as any voter who wanted to visit or enjoy a breakfast burrito.
Highway 425 S., south of UAM, is currently closed near Baptist Temple Church, due to a loaded big rig box trailer missing a culvert during a turn. The road should re-open with in the next hour, hopefully.
Drew County sheriff’s deputies are controlling traffic.

Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corporation Governing Board of Directors will meet in a Special Call Board Meeting Tuesday, October 30, 2018. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will be held at the SEACAC Complex located at 1208 North Myrtle Street in Warren, AR. The meeting is open to the public. SEACAC serves Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew Counties in Southeast Arkansas.
