Summer Reading Program Visits The Planets

This week children who participated in our Summer Reading Program got to visit the planets! At each station the kids got to help with an experiment, make a scientific observation, play a game, or watch a demonstration that was themed on the unique features of the planets in our solar system.

For example, on Venus they got to make a volcano explode, on Mars they were able to help code a route for a miniature Lego Mars Rover, and on Pluto they got to feel how cold it is there by making ice cream. I have attached a few pictures of the event.

UAM Holding Leadership Roundtable on Assisting Dislocated GP Workers, Today @ 1:30

The University of Arkansas at Monticello will host a leadership roundtable Monday, June 24 on its technical campus in Crossett. Members of the chancellor’s leadership team will open a meeting to members of the public and media in an effort to reach out to the Ashley County community, in particular those affected by upcoming plant closings. Drivers Asked To Avoid Windy Hills Area

Residents of the Windy Hills community have asked ML to request that traffic avoid their neighborhood.

They understand that people are only trying to survey damage, but the traffic is getting in the way of clean up, and are blocking trucks and heavy equipment.
