Missing Monticello Man Safely Located in Missouri

A Monticello man, who has been missing since June 17, was safely located Saturday afternoon, in fine condition, shortly after 2 PM, during a traffic stop in Missouri.

Recently, Tommy Jarrett, regional community president of Simmons Bank, and Brian Hargis, Monticello community president of Simmons Bank, presented a check for $10,000 to Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, Jeff Weaver, vice chancellor for advancement and chief of staff at UAM, and Roxanne Smith, accounting specialist for the UAM Foundation. Entergy Estimates 5 pm Power Restoration

A piece of equipment inside a Monticello substation caused an outage to about 3,500 customers about 9 a.m. this morning.

Crews are testing the equipment for damage. The current estimated restoration time for all customers is 5 p.m.

Cooling centers are available. Those who need refuge from the heat can visit the University Center at University of Arkansas at Monticello or the New Life Assembly church at 1664 Highway 425 South
