DCES Spelling Bee Winners

The Drew Central Elementary fourth grade students participated in an Arkansas Words Spelling Bee. This bee was a part of the Arkansas History Unit. The students spent a week practicing and learning to spell words like Arkansans, Ouachita River, & many more. These three students were the overall winners for fourth grade.

Shirley VIncent

Missionary Shirley Vincent was born May 3, 1940 in Portland Arkansas to the late James and Callie Mae Nelson and passed on May 25, 2015. She was a member of Revival Center East, Dermott, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by, a brother, twin daughters , and a son. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley McCants and Elizabeth Marthel. 5 sons, Calvin Davis Sr., Robert Marshall Sr., Johnnie Davis, Rodney Marshall, Gene Marshall, one brother James Nelson,43 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Services were entrusted to Christian Brothers Funeral Home and were held May 28^th at The Revival Center Church.

Governor Visits MHS

Governor Hutchinson visited Monticello Friday, May 22 to conclude his month-long Computer Science Tour. Students at Monticello High listened as the governor gave examples of how computer science impacts every arena of life from agriculture, to medical doctors and manufacturing.

Monticello Christian Academy’s daycare division, Educare, is now enrolling for their summer care program. Children 30 months to 7 years old are welcome to attend. We are open 6:00am – 6:00pm.
