MFD Battles Skidder Fire

Shortly before 6 PM, Tuesday, Monticello firefighters responded to a logging equipment fire on Winchester Road, where it was determined the fire was too far to be reached by a firetruck or hose.

Firefighters filled backpacks and hiked to the equipment location to ensure the fire did not spread.

Times for the service are Sunday morning at 11 am with pot luck lunch to follow and Sunday evening at 6 pm.

Services Monday – Wednesday will begin at 7 pm.

Woods Fire Causes Some Evacuations in Drew County, near Dermott

Between 4 PM and 9 PM, Tuesday evening, local firefighters, Arkansas Forestry Commission, assisted by Drew County deputies and OEM were on the scene of a woods fire near the Drew/Chicot County line, at Dermott.

Due to the strong changing winds, the fire continued to spread and call some area of evacuation, due to safety.

No other details are available at the time of this posting.

There were other fires on Tuesday, in other locations around the county.

Please remember we are still under a burn ban.
