A Drew County jury today convicted Sabrina Anderson of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a Class B felony, following a November 6, 2025, incident in Monticello. The jury recommended a sentence of ten (10) years in the Arkansas Department of Correction, which was imposed by Judge Robert Gibson III. Due to the defendant’s criminal history, Anderson will not be eligible for parole. The case stemmed from an encounter on November 6, 2025, when Officer Jaden Richardson of the Monticello Police Department observed Anderson attempting to hide upon seeing his patrol vehicle. After making contact, Officer Richardson determined that Anderson was on active probation with a search waiver on file. Upon being informed that a search would be conducted, Anderson became upset and uncooperative before eventually complying.

Em Sobczak’s senior art exhibition, “Colored Chords: The Art of Listening,” will be on display from April 17 through April 24 in the Glassblock Gallery in the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). A public reception will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sobczak’s exhibition explores the connection between sound and sight in mixed-media artworks inspired by specific songs. “Rather than directly illustrating music, my work operates as a visual interpretation where color reflects tone, composition follows rhythm and materials express mood.”
The Glassblock Gallery’s hours are Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.; Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.
