Former CIty Finance Director Pleads Guilty to Taking Public Money -Edited

Drew County Circuit Court documents show that the former Monticello City finance director accepted a “negotiated plea of guilty” to “Abuse of Office” on charges stemming from late last year.
Kimberly Fletcher, who in September retired as city finance director after 30 years, accepted the plea bargain, which sentences her to “3 months imprisonment and a $1,000 fine, suspended on the condition of no (further) criminal offense.
In an article posted earlier this year on MLive, a city audit showed $6,325 missing from the city’s water in sewer funds.
Fletcher admitted to using a “lapping scheme” to take the funds, and paid restitution through the city after it was discovered.
