The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) held its 2023 Homecoming Week from September 25-30.
On September 28, during the UAM Department of Athletics’ annual UAM Sports Hall of Fame banquet, Kori Forge (men’s basketball), Jordan Goforth (women’s basketball), Andres Rios (baseball), Cole Sears (football) and Jalen Tolliver (football) were inducted into the UAM Sports Hall of Fame. Larry and Shirley Fisackerly received the 2023 UAM Spirit Award.
On September 29, the UAM Alumni Association hosted a reception for the annual alumni award winners. Reagan Wise was the recipient of the Young Alumni Rising Star Award. Alumni Achievement and Merit recipients for 2023 included Ronald Feeser, Jr., Paul Griffin, Shawn Higginbotham and John McAlpine. Ginger Tarver Johnson was the recipient of the 2023 Continuing the Connection Award. (more…)

Brianna Williams is a first-year student majoring in Ag Business at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). She plans to compete in goat tie, barrel racing, and break-away roping. She is excited about the fall rodeo schedule and even more excited about the improved horse barn on campus where she’ll house her horse. The West Monroe, Louisiana native said she visited the horse stalls this past spring. “They were all panel stalls in there, and these, I mean, whoever built them, they are boarded stalls, and I mean, they are perfect stalls in a way. “Super-duper nice,” said Williams of the new horse stalls. “They are some of the nicest stalls I’ve seen.” (more…)

On May 19, Dr. Juliette Biao Koudenoukpo, director of the United Nations Forum on Forests Secretariat, visited the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) to meet with faculty, staff and students from the College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources (CFANR) at UAM.
Alexia Lams, a junior art major at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), has a piece on display in a national exhibition through July 30. Her piece, “‘Untitled #1,’ oil on canvas, 2022,” is part of the RAM Annual Invitational: “Odyssey” at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum. (more…)
The 2022-2023 academic year saw a familiar face return to the classroom full-time at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). Dr. Morris Bramlett, professor of chemistry at UAM, stepped down from his position as dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in July 2022 after serving in the role since 2007 so that he could return to his love of teaching.
