This months Yard of the Month award goes to John Porter and Kay Price, of W. Allen Drive.

According to Glenda Nichols of the  Chamber of Commerce, this is the first time that a home has been nominated by 3 different sources, during the same month.

The winner is selected by the Town & Country Garden Club, from nominations made to the chamber.

Bro. Larry Doggett went to be with the Lord  on the Saturday after July 4, 2014.

Bro. Larry is remembered as the morning DJ at KHBM, Pastor of life Church, a school bus driver for Monticello School District, the chaplain for the local jail, and president of the Drew County Ministerial Alliance.

On the  following Monday, KHBM Radio 93.7 held a special community call-in show, Monday morning, where listeners were invited to call and share their memories of and tributes to Bro. Larry Doggett.

This video includes the calls from that program, along with several photos Bro. Larry, “the Round Mound of Sound.”

According to Lt. Jason Akers of the 10th Drug Task Force, a joint investigation between the 10th Drug Task Force and the Ashley County Sheriffs Department resulted in the arrest of two Ashley County men Tuesday night in Monticello.

Around 9:45, Tuesday morning, according to Sheriff Mark Gober, the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept., along with many other agencies working in he search for two missing Drew County women. located Rosa Berryman, age 47, who was treated at the scene and released.

United Way in Drew County announced Friday that applications for 2017-2018 funding are now available.

Last year local United Way volunteers allocated $12,000 to agencies serving Drew County residents.

Jessica Bree-Anne Lanthrip was awarded the 2017 4-H Scott Tractor Scholarship of $1,000 for the hard work and dedication she has shown Drew County 4-H over the years.
