Earlier this month, a Monticello man accepted a guilty plea to the charge of sexual solicitatin of a child and 2nd degree sexual assault.

The Ashley County Sheriff’s Dept. contacted MPD Dispatch, around 11:30 pm, last Friday night, reporting that a school resource officer (also a county deputy) had been taken against her will by an ex-boyfriend, and the vehicle was headed toward Monticello.

Friday around midnight, while MPD and DCSO were working a reported kidnapping, a wreck, and recovering a stolen vehicle (with the suspects still in it) a call came in to MPD Dispatch reporting multiple shots being fired in the parking lot of a local apartment complex.

Around 11:45, Friday night, a local man was visiting friends on E. Shelton St., when he heard his Chevy truck crank up.  He went outside, and saw his vehicle backing out of the driveway, and called MPD Dispatch.

The 44 year old man, arrested by MPD after a local business owner entered his shop, Saturday, to find the stranger holding his cash register, received a $15,000 bond, Monday afternoon.

Tony Glynn Irons, currently from Monticello, told District Judge Ken Harper that he had taken a “#10 Valium and a Xanax” together for the first time, and didn’t remember anything else until he woke up in jail.

The capital murder case of Aubriana Coke went before the Drew County Circuit Court, Tuesday afternoon, with details leading up to the October jury trial becoming more complete.

Prosecutor Thomas Deen confirmed to MLive that the prosecution, “intends to seek the death penalty for Daniel Pedraza,” the deceased infant’s step-father, in the case.

Two of the three Saline County youths charged with the attempted capital murder of a Lacey man, aggravated robbery, theft of property, and theft by receiving, entered Guilty pleas, Friday, in Drew County Circuit Court.

One received a 25 year sentence, followed by a 15 year suspended sentence, and the other earned a 10 year sentence, followed by 10 more, suspended.

Monticello Police recently responded to a report from a local resident, claiming that her family’s ex-in-laws had threatened to burn their house down, and had even loosened a pipe on their gas meter.

According to the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, a black bull was found in the Montongo area approximately two (2) months ago.

If anyone is missing a bull they are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 367-6211.

According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 236 Selma Collins Road, in Selma, at approximately 1:40 pm, Wednesday, after a call came in that a neighbor had shot into the home.

Right after Judge Bynum Gibson told the court that a convicted drug manufacturer would receive two consecutive 10 year sentences, the man approached the judge’s bench, said “I object”, and fell to the floor.

This was the same man who when arrested asked for the Postmaster instead of an attorney and called the jury ““Brain-washed Socialist Cowards”  during his trial.
