At 5:10. PM, Sunday, an ongoing argument escalated into a shooting in the 500 block of Pauline Street.

Brandon Dujuan Hayes was arrested by Monticello police without incident, shortly after the event occurred.

The victim was shot in the shoulder and transported to JRMC by SEEMS for non-life-threatening injuries.

Hayes is being held in the Drew County jail, awaiting first appearance and bond hearing.

He will likely be charged with committing a terroristic act and first-degree battery.

Although documented information is scarce, in the case, official felony charges have been filed against 2 former members of the local charity funded organization.

On July 9, 2024 around 7:18 pm, MPD officers were dispatched to the residence of Mark Tiner because of a disturbance.

The officers arrived and spoke to Tiner and the victim.

After further investigation, Mark Tiner
was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd Degree.

He was processed at the Drew County Detention Center and released, shortly afterward.

“I have been briefed on a domestic situation involving a council member. This is a very unfortunate incident and I believe it is solely a matter for the Monticello Police Department and the court system to resolve”. – Mayor Jason Akers

On July 15, 2023, law enforcement officers from the Desha County Sheriff’s Department, the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, and the Arkansas State Police responded to a 911 call where the body of 57-year-old James Petty was found in the middle of Delta Queen Rd. in Arkansas City. The investigation led to the arrest of Christopher McDaniels, the grandson of Mr. Petty’s wife. (more…)

On June 19, 2024, at approximately 12:09 a.m., Warren Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Cherry St. in reference to an armed home invasion.

Upon their arrival they were told by a resident that individuals entered their home with guns. The individuals were gone upon officers’ arrival. (more…)
