Patrol Officer David Menotti was selected by Chief Jason Akers as Officer of the Year.

Officer Menotti led the department in significant arrests. Chief Akers said Officer Menotti is consistent, professional and is always wanting to learn. He’s definitely got a bright future in law enforcement.

Officer Menotti is a veteran of the Air Force who has served in several overseas deployments and was recently promoted to Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves. His dedication to his county and the citizens of Monticello is unmatched.

 Ms. Johnson served as a dispatcher for Dermott Police Department prior to coming on board in Monticello.

Chief Akers said that Ms. Johnson’s experience, her ability to deal with the public and her professionalism are some of the factors that make her an asset to the citizens of Monticello.

A joint investigation between the 10th Drug Task Force and the Monticello Police Department resulted in numerous drug and firearms related arrests on Thursday, with more arrests to follow throughout the State.

The operation, which netted 13 arrests Thursday, has not concluded yet as another 10-12 suspects are still being sought.

Wednesday at lunch, members and staff of Shady Grove Baptist Church prepared a fish fry for the Monticello Police Department, inviting officers from other departments to join in, as well.

Someone described the event as “a way to show our local police officers that although hard work and dedication aren’t shown in the national media, they are appreciated by the residents of Monticello and Drew County.”
