The Arkansas State Police is continuing to assist the Dumas Police Department in an ongoing investigation of gunfire that swept across a crowd attending a local car show, leaving one person dead, and at least 24 others wounded.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge recently announced Arkansas State Police Corporal Lagarian Cross as the Drew County Officer of the year.

Johnny B. Verser, Age 57, Missing Since 1:30 PM Tuesday from Dumas.

Verser is a 6-3, 200 pound black male, with medium gray hair, brown eyes, and was last seen on Edward Street. He could possibly have a blue van.

On March 9, 2021, Stephen Thomas Jones, believed to be a native of California was arrested at a local business in Monticello, and charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver narcotics, including heroin and meth. This is believed to be the first heroin arrest and conviction in Drew County in decades.  (Records do not show there to have ever been one.) (more…)
