According to reports from Wednesday’s meeting, the previous owners of Arkansas Midland Railroad did not get approval from Union Pacific to install the crossing of the intermodal access road, before authorizing the intermodal authority to build the road across the track at its current location and where to install the switch.

Railroad officials notified the contractor of the problem as the road was reaching the railroad right-of-way. That was the first time anyone local knew this was an issue.

The specific problem is that according to Union Pacific, the railroad track swith and the road crossing must be a specific distance away from each other.

ATTENTION DREW COUNTY SOLID WASTE CUSTOMERS
There will be a TRASH ROUTE SCHEDULE CHANGE for FRIDAY TRASH ROUTE CUSTOMERS ONLY.

Starting April 5, 2018 your trash day will be THURSDAY.

Due to scheduling changes we will no longer have a Friday trash route.

No other days will be affected.

THE DREW COUNTY LANDFILL WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FREE RESIDENTIAL DUMPING ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2017 FROM 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, AS A COURTESY TO DREW COUNTY RESIDENTS.

Last week, the Drew County Log-a-Load for Kids presented a check to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for $120,000.

The money was raised at the annual August event in Monticello and at the Southwest Forest Producers Expo that was held in late August.
