Hee is the ordinance….
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monticello, Arkansas, that Chapter 7 of Monticello City Code, concerning building regulations (Ordinance No. 526), is amended to read as follows:
Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Drew County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
The purpose of the project is to resurface 1.5 miles of roadway in Monticello..
A recent list of nuisance properties, as reported and maintaned by the city property inspector, included a city property.

A MLive reader noticed the new driving instructions painted on the City Square.
The sign says “Left lane must turn left,” but the arrow points right.
“Parking only” seems to be allowed on the left, even though parking places are on the right.
We’ll probably be covering wrecks on the square, today.
An FOI by MLive for the results of the recent Monticello city audit show $6,325 missing from water and sewer funds, to the benefit of a former employee.
Last week’s city council meeting included budget requests from city department heads, as well as the MEDC and Boys & Girls Club.

Steven Morris of Morris and Associates addressed the City Council Wednesday evening with a slide presentation of his findings of damage and needed repairs to City Hall and the Police Building.
Remember back in February when Monticello got the new “automated” trash recepticles that could be dumped automitically by the trash truck? Remember the 4-5 pages that were wire-tied to the handle? One of those notes stated, “All trash must fit into cart and lid must close.”
With Veteran’s Day being Monday, and many family celebrations being planned, the City of Monticello has chosen this week to enforce that clause.
The Monticello City Council, Monday night, gave final approval to the $10,000,000 water system improvement project.
The interest rate of 4.39%, and the payment will be around $600,000/year for 30 years, for a total of $18,000,000.
Imediately after the vote, Mayor Allen Maxsell to the council, “Everybody in the city is going to thank you.”
