After months of moving, cleaning, and organizing Options had their grand opening Monday morning.

“We would like to thank everyone who has helped us move, sort, and build walls, hangers, bins, and ramps.

We are thankful for our new space that gives us so much room to serve our community as we continue to serve families in our area.

Our new location and new store hours are located on our Facebook page.

Please remember we are only taking donations during business hours and no longer taking outdoor drop-offs.

We are in the planning stages of our 50th Class Reunion for the Monitcello Class of 1974.

Dates for the Reunion have been set for October 18 and 19, 2024.

As part of an obligation to become eligible for future recreational activity grant funding, the City of Monticello is hosting a Park Clean-Up Day at McCloy Park this Friday, August 23, 2024 from 8:30am – 12:00pm.

To anyone who would like to be involved please come by and sign up at the time of the event. We hope to see you there!

Recipients of a gift to the arts, 7th-10th graders at Monticello Schools receive a $30,000 grant for the Seark Concert’s Majoring in the Arts (SMARTS) program from the Carl, B and Florence E King Foundation.

MHSI is thrilled to announce that Dr. Kimberly Golden, a distinguished medical professional at Mainline Health Rison Clinic, has been nominated for the prestigious “Best of the Best Top 5” award by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. This recognition places Dr. Golden among the top medical general practitioners in the entire state of Arkansas, highlighting her exceptional dedication to patient care and medical excellence. Friday, at noon, the Monticello Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting at Breaker for their grand reopening.

City Council member Clarissa Pace read a proclamation from Mayor Jason Akers honoring them for being the last remaining Breaker drive-in, of the national chain.

Pace, on behalf of the local NAACP chapter, then honored Larry Reese and his family, for being the longest running black owned business in the community, at the event, as well.

Going the “extra distance” was something Austin Powell strived for to be a college athlete, and putting that motto to use as an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission game warden has helped him make several big cases in just four years on the job.

The 26-year-old, based out of the AGFC Enforcement Division’s Monticello office, dedicated many man hours to his caseload, but he also put time this past year into building a love of the outdoors among youths through such events as the National Wild Turkey Federation’s JAKES Day in Rison. For his work, Powell became among the youngest winners ever of the AGFC’s Monty Carmikle Officer of the Year Award, presented in late July.

Clearwater Paper $20,000 donation to the SEARK Concert Association August 8^th.  This money will be used to help in production and presentation of various musical shows and dance productions for the association in the near future for the entire community and Southeast Arkansas to enjoy.
