The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has approved the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) for funding to continue as a Special Education Resource Teacher Academy during the 2024-2025 academic year.
UAM was initially approved as a Special Education Resource Teacher Academy after receiving a grant for the 2022-2023 academic year as the result of a grant proposal submitted on behalf of the UAM School of Education by Dr. Kim Level, dean of the UAM School of Education, and Deborah Givhan, special education coordinator and instructor in the UAM School of Education. In 2023, UAM received funding to continue the program in the 2023-2024 academic year.

















The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will hold its spring commencement exercises on Friday, May 10, in the Steelman Field House. Commencement will be split into two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ceremony and 1 p.m. for the 2 p.m. ceremony. The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will launch the Weevil Jumpstart Program for first-time freshmen in July 2024. Eligible students who enroll in six credit hours during Summer Session II will receive a full campus housing scholarship through the program. Classes will run from July 1 through July 31.

The Allied Health Department at the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee (UAM-CTM) has announced that 100% of students in its fall 2023 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam on the first attempt. The cohort was taught by Jonathan Whipple, instructor of EMT. 
The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) has received a gift of $1.3 million to establish the Jonathan Hartley Endowed Scholarship for Forestry. The gift comes from the estate of Andrea Stanley Hartley, mother of the late Jonathan Isaac Hartley, and is the third-largest single gift in the university’s history. Scholarships will benefit undergraduate and graduate forestry students in the College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources (CFANR) at UAM.
Dr. Brandy Haley, of the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), has been nominated to receive an ARNA DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arkansas Nurses Association (ARNA). Members of the ARNA Practice Council will determine the final awardees, who will be recognized at the annual ARNA Gala and DAISY Awards on November 3 in Little Rock.
