MHSI’s two new maternal health research
coordinators, Cyndy Woods and Pam Leeper, traveled to Little Rock this week for training
at the Community Health Centers of Arkansas headquarters. The University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences (UAMS) is partnering with the Community Health Centers of Arkansas
(CHCA) for a maternal health research program, Delivering HOPE (Helping Women
Optimize Prenatal Equity).
Amy Abney, former president of Second Chance Fur Dogs, a local Monticello charity, acccepted a guilty plea, Wednesday, in Drew County Circuit Court for theft of property.
Abney also agreed to reimburse the charity $20,000, with $8000 of that to be paid immediately.
Statements from court indicate that she “borrowed” the money out of a lock box at a local bank, with one other person’s knowledge from the group, but not with the board’s permission.
It was suggested during court, that the 10 year probation would give Abney enough time to fully reimburse the charity.
She has agreed to testify against another defendant, in a separate case involving the charity’s missing funds.
Many users of Apple devices have discovered over the last couple of weeks, Apple’s most recent updates require all internet connections to be encrypted in all of their still supported products, older products do not have this update. This is only an issue in some countries, in Europe they have been asked to back off and are allowing Safari to continue to operate on standard unencrypted (http) sites as normal but unfortunately here they only allow encrypted (https) sites. As a result Apple Safari is unnecessarily blocking about 20% of the web sites in the world that still run only html that have no real need for encryption.
