Daniel Pedraza, who received a life sentence from the Drew County Circuit Court jury appealed the life sentence of life sentence rendered in a jury-sentencing proceeding that followed his guilty plea to murder in the first degree of his 2 year old step-daughter.

Arkansas Business is our state’s leading business magazine.   In recent months, they’ve published articles about Kristi Prince’s “CFO of the Year” award, the “Union Bank vs. Union Board” court case, MonticelloLive’s success in the online-only news market, and the Ridgeway Renovation.

Last week, several distinguish students , from both Monticello and Drew Central, also were listed in the news–weekly for being honored as “Arkansas Scholars.”

Drew County Circuit Court documents show that the former Monticello City finance director accepted a “negotiated plea of guilty” to “Abuse of Office” on charges stemming from late last year.

At 6:40 Thursday morning, Monticello’s fire and rescue team were paged out to the report of this eastbound Toyota Corolla, after it left the roadway and flipped, trapping its occupants inside.

Recently, members of the Monticello Fire Department were practicing their skills of “rope rescue,” using the extended ladder of the ladder truck, along with several cantilever pulleys, assisted by a trainer on the fire academy.

Last Saturday, the Collins Cominto fire department held their annual barbecue/auction fundraiser at the firestation.

The firefighters honored the family of Lloyd Cobb, a longtime fireman and founder of the department’s Station 2.

Arkansas County lady, with Drew County grandparents, has earned the right to complete in the Miss Arkansas pageant, this week.
