In this settlement is Siemens required to cover the city’s legal expenses, attorney etc.? If not, what was the cost to the city for this legal action?
Every Monticello resident should be furious with this deal. Siemens owes Monticello $10 Million. Yet they settle for $4.5? This is a sorry deal. So we pay Siemens $5.5 Million for nothing? We live in one of the mobile home parks that received a Siemens water meter at the street. It has leaked numerous times in the last year, costing both the park owner and the city.
Will the city take the $4.5 Million and repay the bank or is this “found money” that the mayor can do what he wants with?
Dear Jim A. Hall,
The cost of the total project was 10 mil. The City paid the company somewhere around 6.7mil. That leaves just over 2mil unaccounted for.
While Siemens didn’t do great work they did do work. That work needs to be paid for. It’s only fair.
I believe the 3rd video should explain everything you need to know about the money and benefits of the deal. Its hard to get all the facts from just reading the headlines.
I believe a good deal was struck. We paid a fair price for the work that was done and we still have the remainder of the money to finish this project with another firm.
If you just shoot from the hip reading the headlines and make statements from that you would be outraged at this settlement. If you look at all the facts you can see that a fair compromise was met and a reasonable price was agreed upon.
Mr. Hall, the city never paid the full 10 million only 7 million was paid. The remaining 2.3 million Siemens kept was for work done and all the materials as well as excess materials the city will keep. Please do your research before writing your comments
