I AM VERY PROUD TO SEE THE CONSTRUCTION GOING ON WITH THE SADIE JOHNSON BUILDING..JUST WISH IT WOULD BE READY BY THE 4TH WEEKEND IN AUGUST SO WE CAN HOST OUR ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION.. IT HAS TRULY BEEN MISSED..
This is a wonderful thing that is taking place. I am so proud of and happy for all of the people who set the wheels in motion for this building to be reconstructured. I attended part of my elementary school years on this site. Again, thanks to all of the individuals who made this happen.
The Sadie T. Johnson Community Center is shaping up to be an outstanding Looking facility. The long deliberations and careful planning is paying off and thanks to Karen Connelly(Parks Commission Chair(in addition Park Commission Members), JoAnne Trotter(Community Committee Chair&her staff Members and Mayor Allen Maxwell & members of the City Council(In particular Sherrie Gillespie and Al Peer) in what was a very controversial issue has as planned by Mayor Maxwell the fulfillment of a passed and funded agenda prior to his taken the oath of office, but thanks to his stellar background in securing and researching funding via Federal, State and Private/Public Sector and an outstanding persistent initiative by Joann Trotter this addition to Monticello is par excellence addition to funded and to be funded initiatives and economic and infrastructure developments that have and or taking place over the past 18 months with this administration. The next phase is all but on the table the all but important Conference Center at UAM and proposed vision projects for community development for Wards 1& 3 by MEDC and a proposed Faith Base Entity. Monticello in the midst of what many claim hard economic times again along with El Dorado are proving different for these two are definitely the established and progressive flagship community’s of South(Golden Triangle) and Southeast Arkansas(Cornerstone Coalition)
Yet there has not even been a groundbreaking on the fire station or library.
This is wonderful news and a testament to years of hard work, planning and grass roots community leadership. Way to go, Monticello!
Great Job! I am looking forward to seeing the completed facility. The old Sadie Johnson Community Building was utilized by the community of Monticello. I know that this one will continue to serve the purpose in a much greater fashion.
