At their annual convention that was held in Hot Springs on April 4-5, the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) named Charles F. Dearman, Jr., Vice President, General Manager and Funeral Director of Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello, their Funeral Director of the Vear.

Joe Rogers has announced his candidacy for mayor of Monticello as an independent candidate in the special election and the general election. Rogers is a native of Drew County and a resident of Monticello for 50 years. He has been the manager of his family owned business; Rogers Men’s Wear, for 32 years and served a four year term as Mayor of Monticello from 2007 through 2010.
