26 members of the 6th and 7th grade bands at Drew Central, joined forces to compete in The Music Festival in Hot Springs on Saturday and earned a 1st Division rating, which is the best rating you can get.
After the contest they celebrated at Magic Springs.
This was their 1st time participating in the contest. Chris Bayless, Director of the “Band of Pirates” commented that “these students have worked very hard and deserve this honor, and I am very proud of them.”
A former EMT was arrested Sunday afternoon, on a traffic stop by the Monticello Police Department.
After 58 years in the boat-building business, the McClendon family has completed a deal to sell their recreational boat company, SeaArk Boats, to Correct Craft, a Florida-based company with global operations headquartered in Orlando.

Options, Inc. is now hiring for the position of Crisis Intervention Specialist/Court Advocate. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Social Work, or have accumulated work experience the equivalent thereof in Social work, or Domestic Violence related fields. The Drew County Single Parent Scholarship Board announces the opening of applications for Summer I and Summer II seasons. Deadlines to apply for Summer I is June 6 and Summer II is July 11. Applicants MUST apply online at www.aspsf.org. Submission MUST be made before or by the deadlines. 
The Drew County quorum court will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Drew County Judicial Building (the former Monticello Branch Library).

Monday evening, the Drew County Democratic Party met at the courthouse, to discuss filling the vacant seat on Monticello City Council, which was left by the recent death of alderman Dr. Tim Chase.
Nearly every city has allegedly experienced a brush with a famous person whether he/she is “good or bad”. Bonnie and Clyde reportedly once visited Monticello. Tillar, a small farming community in eastern Drew County, also had a visit from legendary outlaws – the notorious James boys.
