According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, The Monticello Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a residence on Willis Street last night where two people were injured due to the gunfire. During the fall meeting of the University of Arkansas at Monticell Board of Visitors, three new officers were elected. Mellie Jo Owen of Monticello will serve as chairperson, J. The Drew County Courthouse, Landfill & Road Department will be closed on Wednesday, December 23, Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25 in observance of Christmas.
No trash routes will run these days. Monday and Tuesday routes will run as normal.
No community dumpsters will be put out this year due to the abuse of overfilling and dumping on the ground last year.
