Last Thursday, George Harris celebrated 40 years of banking, during Monticello’s official “George Harris Day,”as declared by the mayor.

Commercial Bank celebrated with George’s customers, family and friends, throughout the day.

During the event, Todd Smith, the new President of the bank, shared Mayor Chase’s proclamation.

George shared some thoughts, along with a slideshow with 40 years of memories, and bank owner Bennie Ryburn thanked George for his years of service to the bank and the community.

MFD Responds to Grass/Woods Fire, Monday Night

20AE4EC6-1A83-4EAD-A71F-31B22D83C0C4 At 8:04 PM, Labor Day evening, just before light rain began to fall in the area, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to the report of a woods fire, caused by a tree limb falling on a powerline and igniting grass in the area, which spread.
