At 4:27 PM The Monticello Fire Dept responded to a structure fire on Jenny Lane.
MPD, SEEMS and Drew County Sheriff’s dept also responded.
The home sustained considerable fire and smoke damage. No injuries reported.
Around 8:20, Saturday night, the fire hydrant near the intersection of Mill and Gaines Streets was struck by car, and begin flooding the area, with most of the water going to the Mill Street/278 drain.
Water service in the area was affected.
Thanks to City for responding.

During Friday afternoons, heavy rains, Dave, Knight Rd., near Allis Road in Wilmar, flooded and watched out.
Drew County deputies responded and the Drew County Road crew was notified.

On March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, bids were opened for a grant funded city drainage project that was applied for in 2023 as part of the Mayor’s infrastructure improvement agenda.
The project, encompassing Jackson, Conley and multiple side streets is funded by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. Read the rest of this entry »

According to police reports, on March 5th around 4:30pm, MPD responded to a call about several parties fighting at the Highway 278 trailer park.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with Mrs. Gaines, who stated that on the bus her son was “roasting” a female and the only way she could get him to shut up was to spray him with water and they then got into a argument. Read the rest of this entry »
