Monticello Native Charles Crowson Departs KTHV, Accepting Baltimore Broadcasting Position

November 1st, 2010 by

After four years with KTHV, Charles Crowson is leaving Arkansas for a new position as morning anchor/multi-media journalist with WMAR in Baltimore, Maryland.

“It was an opportunity I simply couldn’t pass up,” Crowson said while signing off during his final broadcast on Today’s THV This Morning Oct. 29. “Arkansas is my home. It always has been and always will be, regardless of where my career takes me.”

Crowson joined KTHV in January 2007 as the station’s second backpack journalist. He earned two Emmy’s, and Edward R. Murrow Award and numerous Associate Press awards.

He was promoted to anchor of Today’s THV This Morning in July 2009 following the retirement of Arkansas Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee B.J. Sams. Crowson worked alongside Tom Brannon, Alyson Courtney and Melissa Dunbar-Gates, as the show remained the state’s top-rated morning news program.

Alongside KARN’s Bob Steel, Crowson also co-produced and co-hosted Arkansas Fairways and Greens, the state’s only radio program dedicated to golf.

Crowson is a 1993 graduate of Monticello High School and a 1997 graduate of the University of Arkansas. His first day with WMAR is Monday, November 8.
