Monticello Man Accepts Guilty Plea in Sexual Assault Case

November 12th, 2009 by

Brian Keith Collins, of Monticello, accepted a guilty plea in Drew County Circuit Court, earlier this week, to the charge of sexual assault 4th degree.   He had originally been charged with attempted sexual assault.

Collins will serve 90 days in the county jail as his sentence, along with a 1 year suspended sentence.

Zach Vaughn, of the prosecuting attourney’s office told the court that this agreement was approved by the parents of the underaged victim.

At least our kids will be safe for 90 days.

  2. blondie says:

Accepting a plea of a sexual offense, I would think that he has to submit DNA, and register as a sex offender to a child. This makes him have to check in with law on a monthly basis. Correct me if I am wrong. This way he is always paying for his crime the rest of his life in a way. But so will the victim remember the rest of her life what he did.

  3. Steven Allen says:

This BS this guy has had enough breaks in Drew County he and his brother needs to pay the piper get their dues are they going to have to kill someone before the courts get tired of seeing them.

  4. Ladelle Girl says:

90 days? Are you serious? You get more time for cooking dope than you do for molesting kids. I know they are both bad but molesting a kid is something that child will have to live with for the rest of her life. The molester has a whole 90 days to think about what he did, if he even does think about it. Then when he gets out, he can go back to doing the same things he was doing before.
