Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opening in Monticello

APSC, Arkansas Patient Services Company, is opening a medical marijuana dispensary at 329 HWY 425 North, this month.
Essentially, it will operate similar to a pharmacy, since it is the point of access to purchase pharmaceutical grade marijuana in the state of Arkansas. Dispensaries are the only legal purchase point for medical marijuana in the state of Arkansas.
Under Arkansas Law there are indoor licensed cultivators, where medical marijuana is grown, and thoroughly tested, to insure minimal impurities.
Forms of pharmaceutical grade cannabis includes edibles, gelatin gummys and oils. Arkansas law prohibits cannabis products from being appealing to minors. Usually these products are produced in dark colors and generic shapes.
ABC is the enforcement agency of the medical marijuana commission.
Medical marijuana can be used to treat several illnesses, including chronic pain, cancer, and to reduce seizures.
Doctors do not write prescriptions for it, but if a patient has certain diagnoses, the department of health would issue a license for a qualifying condition of health, There by earning a license to purchase these products.
The owners of APSC are Adrian Ray and Justin Perkins, both of Little Rock.
There were multiple postponements dealing with opening the original Warren location, which led to it being transferred to Monticello.
The new business will employee 18 jobs in the beginning, and is expected to open later this month.
Patients will have to show their medical marijuana card to be allowed inside the facility.
