Monticello Girls Softball Association (formerly Monticello Babe Ruth Softball) is currently holding registration for the 2012 season. Registration forms are available at the schools, Farm Bureau and here on Monticello Live.

You may mail your registration form, payment & a copy of your daughter’s birth certificate (new players, only) to 202 Katie Lane Monticello, AR 71655 or drop them off at Farm Bureau, located at 656 Barkada Road, Monticello, AR.

On-site registration:

Saturday, Feb. 18 at Hibbett’s Sporting Goods 9:00am – 12:00 noon

Friday, Feb. 24 at Farm Bureau from 4:00-6:00pm

The Monticello Girls Softball Association is accepting bids for photographs & team jerseys for the upcoming season of play. The bids should be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012. Please send your bid to Misty Jones at MGSA.71655@gmail.com

The Monticello Knockouts softball team, who held fundraisers last year, for their trip to the Regional Tournament, passed along their leftover funds to several worthy organizations, Friday afternoon.

The 12 year old champions became champions in another aspect, as they contributed $300 to 3 food pantries operated by Immanuel Baptist Church, Pauline Baptist Church, and Revival Center, for a total donation of $900.

The Knockouts also donated another $300 to be shared by the Humane Society and PAWS for pet food.

Congratulations to the Union Bank team for winning the Strike Out Cancer Softball Tournament on August 27, 2011.

The tournament was held at Drew Central Schools & was hosted by Union Bank & Trust Company’s Relay for Life Team. All funds raised benefit Relay for Life.

“Battle of the Bats” was the name of the fastpitch softball game, Thursday night, between the Monticello Girls 12 U “Knockout” State Champs and the Monticello Boys 12 U Mo-Town Strokers (winners of the Gold Ring Classic)

The boys won the first game 3-2 and the second gane 6-2.

The game was a fundraiser for the Monticello Knockouts.

Monticello 12U Softball  All-Stars won the Babe Ruth state tournament in Fordyce, Sunday. The Knockouts qualified to play in the Babe Ruth regional tournament in Gulf Port, MS, on July 20-23.

Members of the team are Bailey Adair, Caroline Adair, Madison Arrington, Macie Blagg, Katie Connelley, Morgan Davis, Kiara Franklin, Hannah Jones, Emilee Lawson, Jaela Martin, Jaye Lauren Pace, and Sydney Sizemore.

2011 Monticello Babe Ruth Softball Registration is currently underway until March 12th.

Forms can be picked up and dropped off at Farm Bureau Insurance.

The almost annual Monticello Police vs. Fire Dept. softball game was held last Saturday, and was played in honor of Sgt. Larry Smith, of the Monticello Police Dept.

Larry was there for the game, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The police won the event by a final score of 10-5.

Although the P.D.-F.D. grudge match was the “Main Event” of the day, their game was only the opening game of the tournament.

The next game of the day pitted Journey Church taking on the First Assembly of God team.

First Assembly’s team won that game, and then defeated the police squad in the tournament championship.
