The Drew Central robotics team brought one of their projects to the school board meeting, last week.

After a demonstration by the team, they invited superintendent Billy Williams to take a “test drive.”

This female dog has been at a house a couple of days and won’t let them get close enough to get a good pic.

She has on an orange collar and has white on her chest. Call 870-723-4280 and leave message.

According to  Hamburg school superintendent Max Dyson, contrary to Facebook reports, the Hamburg school district is not in lockdown.

Jill Gibson appeared as a conservative political TV commentator, Tuesday night, on KGW8 in Portland, Oregon, covering both presidential and local elections.

Jill is the daughter of John Frank Gibson of Monticello and Judy Gibson of Little Rock.

She practices law as a sole practitioner under the name of Gibson Law Firm in Portland, Oregon.

Walmart access road call 367-6222.

Monday morning, around 5:30 AM, the Collins-Cominto fire department responded to a combine fire, near Baxter. The combine was destroyed.

Tuesday, the Tillar fire department  was dispatched to a car fire, on HWY 277 near the intersection of HWY 278. Drew County sheriffs deputies also responded.

Thursday morning, around 7:30 AM, the Monticello fire department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of E. Shelton St. The damage was reportedly contain to the back area of the house. No one was injured in the fire.

Once again,  our appreciation goes out to our firefighters, across the county,  for their dedication to  protecting Drew County citizens, and our property.

The Monticello High School Tennis Team traveled to Russellville Monday and Tuesday to compete in the 4A State Tournament.

Kristi Davis, the local United Way representative for Drew county, was recently appointed to the governors advisory commission for service and volunteerism, by governor Asa Hutchinson.

She was sworn in by Judge Robert Akin.

USAF Col. L. R. Hughes has been a Monticello resident since January, and is the husband of UAM Chancellor Dr. Karla Hughes.

Monday there was a hearing at the County Courthouse, questioning the legality of the 15 proposed initiatives & reverendums that had received signatures, to be decided by local voters, at the general election, November 8.

A group of local business and community leaders had filed a lawsuit to question the legality of each of the proposed issues, which was to be decided by Circuit Judge Don Clover.  The defendants were listed as the county and city clerks, and the county election commission.
