“The Woods of Monticello”, a residential nursing care facility, lost electric power, yesterday morning around 9:30, like thousands of other Drew county Entergy customers.
Like everyone else, they are “making do,” but for a facility with 84 residents/patients, it has become quite an experience.

In an effort to help residents clean up after Monday’s storm, the city will collect larger down limbs and branches on Tuesday, February 17, as part of the city’s yard waste collection program.
Residents are asked to place yard waste on the curb, and contact the Solid Waste Department, (870) 367-4407.
Monday’s interrupted trash service will run on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Friday, prosecuting attorney Thomas Deen released a letter, reference to a local ladies recent arrest on the charges of “solicitation of murder. ”

The city of Monticello’s new “trash compactor” is being installed today and Thursday at the “Transfer Station”.
City trash pick up will not be affected, and a place is provided at the Transfer Station for citizens to drop off other trash, as needed.
The old compactor is shown being removed, and the new (blue) one will be installed in its place, at a cost of just under $54,000.
A Monticello man was taken into custody, Tuesday night around 6 PM, in Garland County following what is believed to be his third police pursuit, since being suspected of shooting a gun at a school employee in Hot Springs, causing a 2 school lockdowns.
Monticello Police have asked for the public’s assistance in locating Kenno Forrest, who is being considered a “person of interest” following a “shots fired” report from a Hot Springs school employee, Friday, after a suspect was caught stealing gas.
Two schools were then locked down as a precaution, as the search for the then unknown suspect began.
Ace Benjamin Rawls turns 3 years old on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He is the son of Jeff Rawls and Jamie West Rawls and the little brother of Jaxon Rawls of Monticello.
He is the grandson of David and Cindy Rawls and Jim and Julie West all of Monticello.
Ace is the great-grandson of the late Curly & Katherleen Rawls, J. D. & Sandra West, the late J.B. & Nelda Smith and the late Lucy Brown.
