image MLive received word this morning that a longtime UAM staff member had passed away.

The Drew County Sheriffs department confirmed, around 8:45, Monday night, a group of people who were attending a meeting in the Greenhill community found Sandra (Dupree) Campbell, a UAM staff member for over three decades, and current director of the UAM library, in her vehicle, dead of an apparent suicide.

UAM Interim Chancelor Jay Jones released this statement to students, this morning, “It is with profound sadness that I report the passing of Sandra Campbell, who served in UAM’s library for 31 years, the last 15 as its director. We mourn the loss of a wonderful colleague who cared deeply for UAM and who was committed to its mission and students. Sandra was a friend, a caring supervisor and an excellent administrator. Sandra was such a kind person, she worked in so many different capacities. She was a diligent worker in the Church, and was often asked to do many Poems as well as addresses for many occasions. It is with deep sadness that I speak on behalf of the Monticello/Warren District Missionary Society in saying Our Dear Sister will be truly missed. We Pray for the Family and may you find Peace and Solace during these hours of regretfulness. She will always be remembered as the Lady who was always there to help you at the University of Arkansas at Monticello Library. May God Be with you all.

This just really saddens my heart. Ms. Sandra was willing to help regardless if it was to help find a book, topic, or just to put a book away. She always had a smile on her face and tried to speak to each and every student or staff member that walked through the door. I spent many hours upstairs in the study rooms and she would always peek in and ask if I needed anything. Praying for peace and understanding for her family and friends.

  31. This was truly some very sad news to hear of Mrs. Sandra Dupree-Campbell’s untimely homegoing. John 14: 1-3 states: Let not your hearth be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again- etc. He has come again and taken a beautiful person to one of those many mansion. May GOD Bless you family, each and everyone of you, let it be known: He is an awesome GOD who makes no mistakes.!!!
Rest in Peace Mrs. Campbell. UAM and the DREW county will truly miss this beautiful lady!!
