County Trash Pick-Up – UPDATE!!!

trash bag 2Due to the storm damage, along with fallen trees and powerlines,  Drew County trash routes will be made up on Friday & Saturday.

Monday’s trash route will pick-up FRIDAY.
Tuesday’s route will pick-up on SATURDAY.

Tree Debris Dump Sites Opened

F1733911-7C9B-482A-9226-956538CAC8FAAs local residents clear out storm damage and debris, the City of Monticello has announced that trees and limbs may be disposed of at the Transfer Station on Old Warren Road.

Judge Robert Akin has declared Drew County as a disaster area, due to the storms, and will be acccepting vegetative debris, starting Monday, at the Drew County Fairgrounds.

Both of these locations are for trees, limbs, bushes, and other naturally growing storm debris.

Building materials or structural debris cannot be accepted at either of them.

The AEHC Spring Education Workshop was held in Ferndale, Arkansas, early last month.

The theme was “Working Together Today for a Better Tomorrow.” This year’s statewide project is Food Security. All Extension Homemakers are asked to fill up a small water bottle with dimes to donate to the Arkansas Food Bank. The bottle will hold $66 dollars in dimes.

Drew County had nine people to attend the Spring Workshop.

In November, we posted the video (shown below) showing the poor condition of Ross Drive, where every inpatient transfer at the hospital road over in an ambulance.

The city and county agreed to split the repair cost, and last week Ross Drive was overlaid.

Thanks for working together to solve the problem!

Election Sign Taken Down In Judge Race, Discussed at Forum – Video

At the very end of Monday night’s Tea Party political forum, Priscilla Copelin Abernathy questioned the two men involved in the incident discussed in social media where her supporters had taken down a Laurie Bridewell sign on video. After their presentation, one of the moderators asked if anyone wanted to comment, but the other candidate had left the building.
