County Closed Friday, Landfill Open Saturday

happy-new-year05The Drew County Courthouse, Landfill, and Road Department will be closed Friday, January 1, 2021 in observance of New Year’s Day.

Friday’s County trash route will run along with Thursday’s route. There will be no other changes to the trash schedule for this week.

The Landfill will be open on Saturday, January 2nd, as it is the first Saturday of every month from 8:00a.m.-12:00p.m.

image_mrtrashmanholidaysThe Drew County Courthouse, Landfill & Road Department will be closed on Wednesday, December 23, Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25 in observance of Christmas.

No trash routes will run these days. Monday and Tuesday routes will run as normal.

No community dumpsters will be put out this year due to the abuse of overfilling and dumping on the ground last year.

Landfill Reopens with All ADEQ Tests Approved

We have received news from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, that our class 4 landfill has successfully passed all the required tests to reopen.

Due to all the rainfall in the resent past, has made it difficult to get all the required tests. We welcome all the people that have been patiently waiting, bring your class 4 debris to the landfill.

The landfill hours are from 8:00 am til 3:45 pm Monday thru Friday.

Open 8:00 til 12:00 noon on the 1st Saturday of each month.

Tipping fee is $ 27.50 per ton, with a $5.00 minimum.

courthouseAccording to County Judge Robert Akin, the Drew County Courthouse has been closed 2 foot traffic, until further notice, due to increasing COVID-19 cases in Drew County.

Trash truck dumpsterThe Drew County Courthouse & Road Department will be closed on Wednesday, November 25, Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

No trash routes will run these days. Monday and Tuesday routes will run as normal.

The County Landfill is closed until further notice. The Landfill is, however, accepting metal ONLY. Please call the sanitation office at 870-460-6293 before going to the landfill. This pertains to the County landfill only.

County Clerk Lyna Gulledge, Resigning effective December 31, Moving to North Arkansas – Video

Lyna GulledgeMrs. Gulledge has served 16 years as County Clerk, after working as a deputy clerk, in 2004.

She also told the Quorum Court JPs, Monday night, that two of her deputy clerks, who have been considering retirement, will also be leaving, at the end of the year.

Several of the JP ‘s, the County Judge, as well as the county attorney, expressed their appreciation to Mrs. Gullege, for her years of service.

A standing round of applause, concluded the emotional announcement.

Local Health Units Extend Hours On Tuesdays

Local Health Units across Arkansas will stay open later on Tuesdays so that services including flu vaccinations and COVID-19 tests are available after normal business hours.
The health units, which are located in every county in the state, will now be open between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.

“Local Health Units play a critical role in improving the health and well-being of Arkansans,” said Cassie Cochran, the director of ADH’s Center for Local Public Health. “We hope this change makes the units more accessible and allows more Arkansans to take advantage of the available services.” (more…)

“Free to You” Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic, TODAY, at Health Dept., 9-Noon

flu shotDrew County Health Unit will have a drive thru flu clinic from 9:00-12:00 tomorrow, Friday September 25th.  After tomorrow flu shots will continue to be available at the health unit.  Just call 870-367-6234 when you get to the unit and someone will get your information and a nurse will come out to you.

Flu vaccines are now available at the Drew County Health Unit.

We will have a drive thru flu clinic at the Drew County Health Unit, today, from 9:00 – 12:00.

Enter from Scogin Drive (east entrance) and drive in front of the office toward the tent.

There will not be a mass this year due to COVID-19.

$648,000 Cares Act Funds Available to Drew County – Video

Cares act
Judge Akin described the Cares Act $648,000 benefit to Drew County being dependent on finding providers to oversee food pantry distribution and rental assistance.

Probable sources to oversee these, as required by the governor, were suggested. They just need to be confirmed, before proceeding with the quorum court’s vote on the Cares Act.
