Earlier today, the city removed a dead tree from the town square.

A new one will replace it tomorrow.

Another dead tree will also be replaced, later this week.

State law requires that revenue producing aspects of city government be audited by independent firms.
The tax funded hotels will be audited by the Department of Legislative Audit.

Recently, the City Council approved lowering the level of Lake Monticello (to allow for levee repair), instead of totally draining the lake, as requested by AG&F (in an effort to kill and restart the lake).

In 2014, the Monticello City Council passed an ordinance placing limitations on ownership and relocation of mobile homes within the city limits.

With multiple changes in the mayor’s seat since then, plus a slightly heated discussion at a recent meeting, the topic of the mobile home  ordinance is on the agenda for Tuesday night.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monticello, Arkansas, that Chapter 12 of Monticello City Code, concerning mobile homes (Ordinance No. 480), is amended to read as follows:
