Amber’s is open Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 6pm.

Piggly Wiggly, on South. Main St. in Monticello, closed Sunday morning for a major store renovation, name change, and marketing change.
The store is reopen today as Food Giant – Cash Saver, with the new sales technique.
Each item in the store will be identified with the store’s actual cost for that item. When customers check out, 10% of the grocery total will then be added. This total is what the customer will pay, providing YOU with lower prices.

The CASA10 program, a non-profit organization, is seeking an Executive Director. The ideal candidate has non-profit experience with specific knowledge of grant writing, public speaking, recruiting and retaining of volunteers as well as a minimum of three years experience in financial and administrative or management experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in fiscal management, grant writing, strategic planning, fundraising, organizational accounting and public relations. Previous experience with child abuse and neglect cases, families in crisis, or other social service skills are preferred.


Direct Care Staff – The position is full-time in Monticello, AR with a female consumer, Monday- Friday 7am-3pm.
All applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED. Applicants must successfully clear a criminal background check, child and adult central registry check, and a driving record check. All employees are subject to alcohol and drug testing.

The industrial “spec” speculative building, which was built as a qualification for the state’s ACE program, seems to have a local industry that will likely use the structure as part of a long term lease, for warehouse space.
Due to the May fire in their old location, EZ Mart has moved next door to the former Circle N location.
Their first day serving the public was Wednesday.
Bessy’s Frozen Yogurt, located behind the new EZ-Mart on HWY 425 South, in the old Pizza for Less and Baseball Cards, Etc. building is planning on a September opening date.
Bessy’s will provide frozen yogurt, along with fruit and candies for you to include in the many sweet treats that they offer.
The new business is owned and operated by Tammy and Molly Flemister.
New features to the building include a new patio, and an improved driveway and parking area.
At the Monticello Economic Development Commission’s monthly meeting, Nita McDaniel expounded on the recent city council meeting announcement that Hood Packaging is in the process of going through another expansion, which will add an estimated 12 new jobs, with an estimated hourly wage of $16
Hood will be investing between between $2M and $4M to add an additional product line. This will create 12 new full time jobs. AEDC has committed $250,000 in forgivable loans to help offset the costs of the expansion project, and on July 25th, the City Council approved an additional $100,000 in forgivable loans from the City war chest to assist with the expansion project as well.
As the planning of this expansion is on-going, new needs continue to develop, and the commission will be meeting soon to discuss these new aspects of the expansion.
