Bomb Threat Arrest Made – (Employee Who Wanted to go Home)

Monday night, at approximately 11:30 pm. Drew County 911 Dispatcher received a call from an unknown male subject stating that he had placed a bomb in a local industry, and was planning to blow the facility up. The suspect further stated “You better come save them,” and hung up the phone.
According to Sheriff Mark Gober, Drew County Sheriffs Office and Monticello Fire Department responded to the call and proceeded to evacuate Maxwell Hardwood Flooring.
After the evacuation was completed the property was searched by Plant Owners / Management and first responders.
No bomb or any other explosive device was recovered or located on scene and the business reopened at 6a.m.
Interviews were conducted by the Drew County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigator and, with the cooperation of Maxwell’s Hardwood, evidence and information was collected.
On Tuesday, August 24, at approximately 7 pm. the Drew County Sheriff’s Office arrested Martagus Stovall (22) of Monticello, on a warrant out of Bradley County.
After making the arrest Stoval was interviewed, and admitted to making the Bomb Threat, stating that he wanted to go home early and that he did not think he would get caught.
Stovall is currently in the Drew County Jail where he has been charged with Causing or Threatening to Cause a Catastrophe and Threatening a fire or bombing (both class D felonies).
Stovall will potentially have to reimburse Maxwell’s Hardwood Flooring for the time lost in production due to the bomb threat, and also be responsible for the loss of pay to each employee who was sent home due to the incident.
