UAM Research Symposium Yields Results about Data Privacy Concerns

Marketing research students at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) entered a Student Research Symposium hosted by the UAM Department of Social Work. The group submitted a poster titled “Student Perceptions of Big Data, Privacy Concerns, and Data Disclosure” that won the People’s Choice award.

The marketing study surveyed students at UAM to access if their awareness of big data, as well as data disclosure, influenced their privacy concerns. Through the research, respondents indicated that perceived vulnerability positively influenced privacy concerns, and privacy concerns positively influenced self-disclosure concerns among the students surveyed. If people think their information is vulnerable on a website, their privacy concerns go up leading to an increase in their self-disclosure concerns.  (more…)

UAM-CTM Awarded Regional Workforce Grant for Heavy Equipment Program

UAM-CTMThe University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee (UAM-CTM) was awarded a $225,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education’s (ADHE) Workforce Initiative Act Regional Workforce Grant Program on July 7, 2022. This award will benefit the UAM-CTM Heavy Equipment program by providing funds to purchase a new semi-truck and trailer.

Bob Ware, vice chancellor of UAM-CTM, stated, “This is wonderful news for the program and the institution. It will be used to upgrade CDL and Heavy Equipment programs.” (more…)

UAM Transfer Student Enrollment Sees Significant Increase, Scholarships Still Available

Recently, Tommy Jarrett, regional community president of Simmons Bank, and Brian Hargis, Monticello community president of Simmons Bank, presented a check for $10,000 to Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, Jeff Weaver, vice chancellor for advancement and chief of staff at UAM, and Roxanne Smith, accounting specialist for the UAM Foundation. Five University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) School of Business students won academic awards in a statewide FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda competition. The competition was held during the 2022 Arkansas FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference from March 31 through April 2 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

All five UAM students who competed won awards in their respective events. The students are all majoring in business administration or accounting at UAM. (more…)

On March 18, 2022, Jeff Weaver (UAM vice chancellor for advancement and chief of staff), Rep. Jeff Wardlaw, Dr. Michael Blazier (dean of the UAM College of Forestry, Agriculture & Natural Resources) and Dr. Peggy Doss, (UAM chancellor), toured the renovations in the UAM Agriculture Building on the Monticello campus.
