Tyson Recognized as a Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy

Dr. L. R. Tyson was recently recognized as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Dr. Tyson becomes just the ninth board-certified sports clinical specialist among the over 2,000 physical therapists in Arkansas.
Dr. Tyson is employed at South Arkansas Rehabilitation in Monticello, where he serves as a staff physical therapist and as director of Enhancing Sport Performance, which is a consultation service conducted by South Arkansas Rehab committed to improving the youth sport experience for kids, coaches, and communities in south Arkansas. He also serves as a consultant to the football programs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and McGehee High School. In addition to his doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas, Dr. Tyson has also previously been recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Nat Grubbs, owner and Director of Clinical Services at South Arkansas Rehab, commented on Dr. Tyson’s recent accomplishment, “I am very happy for and proud of LR for achieving board-certification as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy. This is a very significant achievement within the profession, as his becoming just the ninth PT in Arkansas to attain this status attests. LR was my son’s therapist when he had a tibial tubracle avulsion fracture last year. He was great! (I thought all of the therapists we saw at South Arkansas Rehab were great!) Inspired my son to want to become a PT. Congratulations LR!
