Armed Robbery at Dollar General Saturday Night

According to Chief Robert Rosegrant of the Monticello Police Dept., at 9:09 p.m., Saturday night, a 911 call came into police dispatch, reporting that a lone black male carrying a silver handgun, had robbed the Monticello Dollar General Store, located on HWY 278 West.Â
The man was wearing a dark hoodie, a black toboggan, and dark jeans.Â
After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot, running west on the railroad tracks.
The two women inside of the store were frightened, but were un-injured.
Police officers imediately responded, and the investigation is continuing.
