Mark McCullough, a 33 year old Monticello man, was found lying on the ground, at a residence at 8212 Oxford Valley, in Little Rock, apparently the victim of a gunshot wound, around 10 o’clock, Saturday night.

According to the Little Rock Police Dept., McCullough’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy, as the investigation continues.

According to sources, McCullough was employed at Monticello’s Hood Packaging.

Little Rock TV stations KTHV, KARK, and KLRT included the story of the shooting during their statewide newscast Monday evening.

This is so gut-wrenching!!Why did this had to happened to Mark. Mark was my classmate,( the best class that has come through MHS, the class of 1994!!!)And one of the reasons it was the best if because of Mark. 5. Jackie Wayne says:

I haven’t seen Mark in a long time. For those who know me I left Monticello when I was 17, and know I’m 32. Mark and I use to joke around all the time. He was a good guy that didn’t desirve this. My prayers goes put to the family.

  6. Miyoshi Smith says:

Mark and I are family and it hurts me to know that this happened to him. Our prayers go out to the entire family of Mark. God give us all the strength we need. He will be truly missed. R.I.P. cuz. Marchell Leonard-Smith

  7. Mark was a wonderful student in my 8th grade Career Orientation class. We learned a lot about job seeking skills and how to invest in and operate the Career Orientation Candy Store. We toured the Burlington Industries, rode the Union Pacific passenger train from McGehee to Pine Bluff, toured various businesses in the Monticello Community. That was done to give students insite on different types of jobs and they selected a career that they thought would give them a decent living. Although Mark was a student in my class for 1 year, just like everyone else whenever I saw him he always had a remember when we did this or that in class story. My sympathy goes out to his mother Peggy and brothers Craig(also a former student) and Gordon. You all will need much prayer and support during this time. We all hate that Mark’s life was cut short and in such a tragic manner. Remember that God knows and he will keep you during this time so when you are feeling an emptiness in your heart, stop and have a talk with Jesus and I know that he along with time will heal the hurt.

Love you and cherishing Mark’s memory
Mrs. Carolyne Adkins, Former Teacher of MJHS

  8. Y.J. says:

  9. Felecia Brooks says:

My heart goes out to the McCullough Family. When I first heard about this tragedy, I was in shock and couldn’t believe it. The last time I saw him was 5 years ago at a football game during my 20-year class reunion. I didn’t even recognize him because it had been a long time prior to that since I saw him. I remember the boys on our street use to play in the yard together, including my brother Anthony, Craig and Mark, Corey and Duane, Steve, Stacey. Those were the good old days. I can tell you from experience that tragedy is something that is so very difficult to deal with. The only thing that eases the pain it time, and in most cases, a lot of it. However, with the help of “The Man Upstairs”, you will get thru it together. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers to make it thru these difficult days. “And this too shall pass…..” Felecia

  10. Lou Lambert says:

To Mark’s Family & Friends: I am so sorry for your loss. I should say- our loss. Anytime one hurt, we all should feel the hurt. I have three sons and to think that it could have been one or all of them.

My prayers are with you. I suffered a similiar hurt through the loss of a nephew.

May God forever comfort you is my prayer.

  11. DM says:

WHY DO THE GOOD DIE YOUNG. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY

  12. MDEIDRA says:

MARK WAS A GREAT GUY AND HE WILL DEFINITELY BE MISSED!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY.

  13. Gloria Robertson says:

I and the McCullough family will like to thank all of you for the positive compliment and responses that we have received regarding my nephew Mark McCullough. Please continue to pray and keep our family in your prayers as we will need them all as we know that our strength will have to come from the Lord.
