Former Factory Buildings Destroyed by Early Morning Fire

2 building were destroyed by an early morning fire, which was reported at 1:50 am, Sunday morning.
The first building, located at the intersection of Union and Gabbert was fully engulfed, when the call came in.
The wooden structure, next to Gabbert St,. used to be a warehouse for the railroad depot, before it was home to Jackson Builders Supply.
The metal building was associated with the IPI styrofoam factory, believed to have been in operation there back in the 1970’s,
The Buildings were currently owned by the McClendons.

I thought the lumber co that was in there was Jordan’s not Jackson’s
IPI was in operation from the 70’s through 2000. It was not a styrofoam plant. It was a polyurethane plant that employed a lot of good people over the years. Just so the facts are corrected!
